Escape to Paradise: Latitude Aparthotel's South African Oasis Awaits
Escape to Paradise: Latitude Aparthotel – More Than Just a Stay, It's a South African Soul-Soother (with a side of WiFi!)
Okay, folks, let's be real. Booking a hotel can be a minefield. You scroll through endless pictures, read reviews that swing from "life-changing" to "utterly disastrous," and pray you don't end up in a room that smells vaguely of despair and stale cigarettes. But I think I've stumbled upon something special with the Latitude Aparthotel. Forget sterile hotel reviews – this is my unfiltered take on a South African oasis. Buckle up, because this might get a little… enthusiastic.
First, Let’s Talk Practicalities (Because, You Know, Life):
- Accessibility: HUGE thumbs up! The website doesn't lie. They actually prioritize accessibility. We're talking elevators, ramps, and hopefully, bathrooms that you can actually maneuver in. This is a massive relief for anyone needing it!
- Internet Access: Look, in this day and age, WiFi is basically air. Latitude gets it. Free WiFi in all rooms! Praise be! They also offer LAN connections if you're old-school, which is a nice touch. The WiFi in public areas was also surprisingly good, so even lounging by the pool (more on that later…) you can still catch up on your feed.
- Cleanliness and Safety: Okay, this is a big one. We're all a bit paranoid these days, right? Latitude seems to take it seriously. Anti-viral cleaning products, daily disinfection, and even room sanitization opt-out! Plus, hand sanitizer everywhere – which I'm always grateful for, because I'm a notorious germaphobe (shhh, don't tell anyone). They've got staff trained in safety protocol and a first aid kit on hand. They've even implemented Cashless payment services, which is pretty convenient.
- Getting Around: Free on-site parking is a winner in my book. South Africa can be a bit chaotic with parking, so being able to just pull up and park is a relief. They also offer airport transfer and taxi service which is perfect if you do not want to drive.
Now, for the Good Stuff (Where the Soul Gets Fed):
- Things to Do & Ways to Relax… Oh, Boy. This is where Latitude really shines. Let's start with the obvious: Swimming pool [outdoor]. The pictures are stunning, and the "pool with view" part promises some serious Insta-worthy moments. You know, the kind where you pretend you're not actually freezing. They also have Spa/sauna areas which are perfect for soaking the stresses away, especially after a long day out.
- Fitness Center: Gotta sweat out all those delicious South African treats, right? They have a fitness center and a gym, perfect for getting your day started. Whether you have some serious goals, like me, or just want to sneak in an early morning workout, they got your needs.
- The Spa Experience – A Memory I’ll Always Cherish: I dove DEEP on this one. I’m not gonna lie, I'm a sucker for a good spa day. And Latitude did not disappoint. Now, the Body scrub was DIVINE - I kid you not, it was like all the stress of the past year just melted away. My skin felt like a silk pillow after! The sauna was hot and steamy (in a good way), and the whole vibe was just… zen. I spent a solid two hours just melting into relaxation. I had a massage that left me feeling like a limp noodle in the best possible way. They also have foot baths. I am not normally a foot bath sort of person. But while I was waiting for my massage, I was seated in the spa area, I saw the footbath, and thought – Why not? And I’m here to say, I’m converted. I will never underestimate a good foot bath again! (The steamroom was also great.)
- Dining, Drinking, and Snacking – Food Glorious Food:
- Breakfast [buffet]: A crucial part of any stay, right? Latitude offers a breakfast buffet, and I’m assuming it'll be a glorious spread. Plus, they do Breakfast in room and Breakfast takeaway service if you're into that.
- Restaurants: Okay, I love this. They've got multiple restaurants, and the options are exciting! Asian cuisine, international cuisine, and even a vegetarian restaurant. I am excited to have so many options, especially as a bit of a picky eater. There is also a poolside bar which has me dreaming of sundowner cocktails.
- Coffee/tea in restaurant, Coffee shop, and Snack bar: Caffeine is essential, and the thought of having this close by is pure bliss.
- Service & Convenience
- Latitude seems to have a good grasp on the practicalities, not just the luxuries. They offer things like concierge, dry cleaning and laundry service, and daily housekeeping. They also offer room service [24-hour]. Amazing!
- For the Kids: They have a Babysitting service and Kids facilities. I am not traveling with kids, but it's nice to know they are on board!
For the Rooms – My Personal Sanctuary:
- Air Conditioning: Whew, a must-have in South Africa!
- Air Conditioning in public area: Excellent, but also a standard expectation.
- Free WiFi – Yup, I already said it, but it bears repeating.
- Extra long bed – Comfort is key.
- Room decorations: Because nobody wants a boring room.
- Soundproofing – Peace and quiet, finally!
- Wake-up service – Because, let's face it, I need it.
The Quirks, the Imperfections (Because Nobody's Perfect):
Okay, I didn't personally stay in every single room, so I'm relying on the reviews and website pictures. I can't tell you if there's a perfect view from every single window. But here's what I'm guessing:
- Don't expect perfection: Like any place, there might be a few minor hiccups. But I gather from my research that the staff seems genuinely eager to help quickly resolve any issues, so this is an advantage.
- Pack light: They have Ironing facilities, and Laundry service. You’ll probably be able to get by with just a carry-on, because South Africa has a lot to offer.
My Unabashedly Enthusiastic Recommendation:
Listen, I'm not easily impressed. But Latitude Aparthotel seems to be ticking all the right boxes. They’re offering a haven for travelers, with a focus on relaxation and rejuvenation. From the spa to the cuisine, to the simple comfort of knowing you have great WiFi, it just feels like a spot made for unwinding.

Radisson Beach Resort Larnaca: Your Cypriot Paradise Awaits!
Alright, buckle up buttercup, because this isn't your glossy brochure, "perfect getaway" itinerary. This is the real, slightly-chaotic, probably-hungover, and definitely opinionated account of my trip to Latitude Aparthotel in South Africa. Think of it as a travel therapy session, you know…with a little sunshine and maybe some biltong.
Latitude Aparthotel – South Africa: A Messy, Marvelous Itinerary (and a Few Regrets)
Phase 1: Arrival and Discombobulation (aka "Where Did I Park?"):
Day 1: The Long Haul & Jet Lag Jihad
- Morning (ish - let's be real, it was closer to noon): Landed in Cape Town after what felt like a transatlantic flight fueled by questionable airline coffee and existential dread. Immigration? A blur of passport stamps and forced smiles. The airport shuttle? A minor miracle of organized chaos (the driver did try to explain the local crime rates to me, right off the bat…charming!).
- Afternoon: Arrived at Latitude Aparthotel. First impressions? Slick. Modern. Probably out of my budget. The lobby was all minimalist chic, which meant…lots of hard surfaces and echoing footsteps. Found the front desk, which was a relief. Was greeted by the warmest person ever, gave me a warm welcome!
- Afternoon (cont.): The apartment itself was…spacious. Too spacious? I’m a minimalist at heart, but the apartment was the size of my childhood home's entire living room. Cue panicky internal monologue about how I’m a small-town girl, and will I get lost wandering around my apartment. Managed to find a balcony with a view that was absolutely stunning. Immediately cracked open a (very overpriced) South African Sauvignon Blanc and started plotting world domination…or at least, figuring out the TV remote.
- Evening: Jet lag slammed into me like a runaway train. Somehow managed to wander downstairs to the hotel restaurant. Ordered a burger (basic, I know, but comfort food is king). The burger was decent, nothing to write home about. The wine, on the other hand, was phenomenal. Ended up chatting with a couple from London, who were already experts on the local wildlife. I, on the other hand, was still struggling with the "point and click" method for the TV remote. Went to bed early thanks to jet lag.
Day 2: Coastal Chaos & Coffee Catastrophes
- Morning: Attempted a sunrise hike. "Attempted" being the operative word. Got lost. Ended up on the wrong side of the mountain, covered in sweat and self-doubt. Made it back to the hotel, where I was greeted with the wonderful view from the balcony.
- Morning (cont.): Coffee, I desperately needed some coffee! I was craving the local coffee, so after getting ready, i went to the coffee shop. Ordered a double espresso at a local coffee shop, which, for some reason, tasted like…mud? Disaster.
- Afternoon: Tried again. This time, I went on a drive down Chapman’s Peak Drive. The views? Jaw-droppingly stunning. Seriously, I almost pulled over the car to cry from the sheer beauty. The drive was so beautiful.
- Evening: Decided I deserved a fancy dinner. Found a restaurant on the waterfront. Food was delicious! I enjoyed the view. I was starting to actually enjoy myself.
Phase 2: Embracing the Absurd (aka "Why Did I Pack So Many Shoes?"):
Day 3: Cape Town Culture Shock & Botanical Bliss
- Morning: Visited the colorful streets of Bo-Kaap. The brightly painted houses were Instagram gold, obviously. I was overwhelmed with emotion. The food that was available there, was incredible.
- Afternoon: A visit to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, was a truly wonderful experience. The air was thick with the scent of blooming flowers. It was a feast for the soul.
- Evening: Decided to try a cooking class. Learned how to make bobotie (a South African meatloaf - delicious!). The instructor was a whirlwind of energy. The class was much more difficult than I expected.
Day 4: Wine, Wonders, and Whale Watching Woes
- Morning: Wine tour in Stellenbosch. Oh. My. God. So much wine. So many rolling hills. So many hilarious anecdotes from the other tourists who were also slowly getting drunk. I've never been to a vineyard before, so this was a brand new experience. I drank, I learned about wine, I enjoyed the fresh air.
- Afternoon: Planned to go whale watching, but the ocean was a bit too rough. Ended up wandering around a local craft market. Found a truly awful, yet strangely compelling, sculpture made of recycled metal. Probably best not to discuss the purchase. I still don't know where to put it when I get home.
- Evening: Dinner at a casual place. So much good food.
Phase 3: The Farewell Fizzle (aka "Did I Actually See Anything?")
Day 5: Lion's Head Lament & Departure Day Delusions
- Morning: Attempted the hike up Lion's Head. This time, I made it to the top! The view of Cape Town was spectacular. The hike wasn't bad, but I am a bit afraid of heights.
- Afternoon: Panic set in about packing. Realized I had accumulated approximately ten times more souvenirs than I had space for. Started dumping stuff in the laundry bag. Found the travel adapter for the first time.
- Evening: Last dinner at Latitude Aparthotel. Had a truly amazing lamb shank. The wine was great. The service was awesome.
Day 6: Au Revoir, South Africa (and Thank God for Duty-Free!)
- Morning: Woke up. Went to the airport. My flight was delayed and I almost lost it. Ended up doing some last-minute duty-free shopping.
- Afternoon: On the plane. Reflecting. South Africa was both a disaster and a dream. I loved it. I hated it. I'd go back in a heartbeat (but pack differently, for sure).
- Evening: Landed back home. I felt a bit of a void, I miss South Africa already.
Final Thoughts: Travel is messy. Travel is unpredictable. Travel is always worth it. (Especially when there’s good wine involved). Latitude Aparthotel was fantastic, the staff were lovely, and I am so glad I decided to push through the difficult times. Would I recommend it? Absolutely, but maybe pack some extra coffee… and a sense of humor.
P.S. Seriously, someone tell me what to do with that metal sculpture. Please.
